CC3C Distress Photo Tinting - and Halloween

  

Hi everyone, 

I guess I'm really getting in the spirit of October. I hit the craft store today and there were things on sale I couldn't leave on the shelf. Much of it was Tim Holtz's products, yippee! I came home and headed to the basement to craft and found I had a printers tray. I decided to antique it a bit and turn it into a Halloween wall hanging. 

I used Distress Crackle paint, Distress ink and sprays to achieve the aged effect on the tray. I found some papers in a Tim Holtz stack I liked for the background. After antiquing the edges I glued the paper to the tray.

Once I had achieved the distressed look on the tray, I could stamp and start layering in my embellishments. That's where the fun begins. Goblins and ghosts and pumpkins on my, scary stuff. Lol

Well with all the fun things I have in my stash and the things I found at the craft store I think this is now complete.

CC102 Day One

Hello everyone,

It's day one of creative chemistry 102. If you've been following you know what this is about. If not hop on over to Tim Holtz's blog and read all about it. So here's my homework for today. I know I didn't have to do it all today but I wanted to keep up with class. It moves along so quickly and I may have questions to ask of the master.   Can't wait to see what we do tomorrow.

Insider Day 2 - Tim Holtz Inspired Stamping

Good morning everyone ,

Today I'm posting a card for day two of Online card classes Insiders.  I decided to do a trifold card for Halloween. Kristina did a continuous card and I liked the trifold format. Since I am in a Halloween mood today and really wanted to break out my new stencils, this is what I did. See what you think. 

  

This was a lot of inky fun. Most of the stamps are Tim Holtz's and Dyan Revealey's  with a bit of Hero Arts and Penny Black thrown in. I used one of Tim's new Stencils, some Adirondack, Archival and Distress inks. Getting prepared for the tricks and treats!

Game Piece Canvas

Hi everyone,

I have been working on a dimensional piece for several weeks now. You probably saw it on my work desk last Wednesday when I was getting ready to apply the gesso. It all started with a 12X12 painted  canvas. I used a stencil and applied embossing paste to the surface in a square pattern. Here is the link to the post showing the beginnings. Well I did get it coated and dry.  I have photos of that for you. I actually did two coats of gesso before I was happy.

Once the gesso was applied, I created my picture frame using metallic tape and an embossing folder from Tim Holtz's alterations.

Next came layers of Adirondack spray inks. After the ink was dry I applied embellishments from the Idea-ology line by...you guessed it, Tim Holtz. 

The final touches where the Perfect Pearls Mists. 

It gave the cogs a little metal shimmer.

12 Tags of 2013 - April

Hey bloggers,
April is coming to an end and I must get my tag for this month posted. Rather than making a tag I did a couple of six or six cards. Be sure and go over to Tim Holtz's blog and check out the master at work. There's a ton of inspiration there. I was playing with the new distressed paints. Warning this post is photo heavy. I have a lot of the in process shots for you.

These are the papers after the first application of paint and ink.

I stamped and inked some tissue for the focal piece.

I then covered the tissue with clear acrylic.

 After the initial drag through the ink and paint, I covered the entire surface of the card 

with Distress ink.

Then comes more water to get all the great texture.

I used Distress markers to accent some of the stamped images.

I used clear film over a stamped image and popped it up.

A Day with Lady Dy, Queen of Journals

I had such a fun day yesterday at the Scrapbooking Studio in Moline Illinois. Dyan Reaveley was there to teach two classes and I took both. I learned so much I just can't tell you what a great teacher she is. I have a ton of ink on paper and some pages in process I would like to share with you. We did so many wonderful techniques my mind is just racing. I have plans to help a friend today but will want to get back to my journal this evening. This is so addicting.

 Be forewarned, this can become habit forming. 

First I had to find the right outfit to wear. I decided to decorate a shirt with Color Wash and use some of Dyan's fun stamps. This is Petunia in the flower patch. Of course, I was teachers pet! Right Dy? I did hear you say it.

I need some flesh toned paint to finish Petunia off correctly.

 I was so out of time.

As Dyan says,'You can't walk on water if you don't get out of the boat".

Well let me tell you, this is way out of my comfort zone.

 It was sink or swim.

I know I have a voice, but what am I trying to say?
