Motion Monday - October 20th

Hi all,
okay you caught me today is Tuesday. I had a bad case of the flu over the weekend and just was not able to upload this post. So here we go today's motion Monday. I created a cute fold up a card for you. Here's the template. 12X4 score at 2", 4", 8", and 10". Score diagonally from 2" mark to 6" and from 10" mark to 6".
But I really wanted to talk to you about  these wobbly things. I absolutely adore them for kids cards. Okay adults get a kick out of them too. I just stamped in an Archival Black ink and colored with Copic markers. Too cute. Okay, now you are saying, how many times can she say cute and adorable. Sorry :( But it just is too cute. Here's a little video I did showing what they do.

Motion Cards

Happy motion Monday,
Yes, as you can guess, I've been fascinated with cards that have moving parts lately. This weekend I posted about slider cards. You can find that post here. Today is about another type of slider card. It works as a gift card holder. I saw one of these about a year ago in Madison at a stamp show. So here's how they are assembled. You will need two pieces of card stock. The first is cut to 4.25 x 11" and scored at 2 inches 7 1/4 inches and 7 5/8 inches. The second piece is cut at 3.25 x 6.5 and is scored at 1 3/4 and 6 inches.
Fold on the score lines.
With an envelope punch, punch in 1 inch from each edge of the top.
This creates a flap to fold on the inside of the bottom folded pocket.
wanted to use and Impression Obsession background stamp on the inside pocket. I used a white chalk ink. The outside is embosses with white sparkle embossing.

Decorate your paper as desired. Attach score taped to the outside edges that fold up to make pockets and the narrow strip on the small piece for the gift card holder.
Slide the gift card holder inside the pocket created by taping the sides. Line it up with the fold in the top flap and remove the cover from the score tape. Close the cover to secure. Now when you open the flap the pocket should slide up.
I decorated the front with diecuts and glitter tape. You could do these in any theme for any holiday. Thanks for joining me today I look forward to your comments.

Paper Cut

Hi everyone,
So I've been running the wheels off of the car. I've been to Chicago and Omaha twice, each. This weekend I spent in Appleton Wisconsin with some of my buddies from Milwaukee.
Yesterday was the Paper Cut warehouse sale. I had gone in early the day before and attended some of Sarah's classes. We had made some slider cards and I thought these would be fun for the grandchildren. I purchased a variety pack of slider pre-cut paper and found there was no orange included. What do you do when faced with this dilemma? Why make one yourself. If you're not familiar with slider cards it's one that you pull on a tab and a piece slides out from the inside.
I cut a piece of orange card stock to 4 x 10.5". Using the lifestyle crafts nesting card template cookie die I cut the center piece that's going to slide. I was sure to leave one end of the rectangle die without the top plate cover when I sent it through the diecut machine. This makes a partial cut.
Using my scoreboard I scored the inside of the slider cut at 1 inch 2 1/2 inches and 4 inches. This is folded with the mountain valley fold. Place a quarter inch piece of tape on the small fold at the bottom of the scored piece. This is where you attach the slider card. The slider is cut to 4.5 x 3".
You can decorate or embellish the front in anyway you like. I used to Tim Holtz alterations embossing folder on the front of mine. The owl on the slider is an embossing folder from Sizzix. The stamps and dies used on the front are tim holtz alterations 659374 Sizzix retro Halloween. I used some black soot distress ink to highlight the embossing on the front.
The card base is Excalibar steel metallic. I just love the shimmer on this card stock and have it in a number of colors. The chalice silver is also beautiful. The orange  paper I used is orbit orange 65 pound card stock, just perfect for those Halloween cards. Well I hope you enjoyed my little make and take. Have a great day. The video view.
